We had good weather for most of the week. Friday and Saturday mornings
were a bit wet.
The scouts worked on merit badges and the younger scouts worked on
rank advancement.

| Isaac listening to class for his Astronomy class.

| The
Struan
was a ship which sank in front of Camp Meriwether on Christmas of 1890
when the property was owned by the Chamberlands. They hauled the anchors
and some chain out of the water, and the capstan used to work the anchors
was removed from the ocean in the 1950's. The ship was hauling a cargo
of lumber which was put to good use by the Chamberland's as well as others
in the area.
| Isaac, Tom, and Neil studying for some Second Class requirements.
| |
| Ty offered to be a dummy for the scouts working on their Second Class
water safety requirement. This has changed within the last couple
of years.
| Peter, Isaac, Tom, and Neil tried out the various methods for helping
Ty get to the dock.
| |
| |
| |
| We had some beautiful evenings, as well as some bright sunny days.
The staff was able to run their Astronomy class on most of the nights
at 10:00PM. The moon was really too bright, but stayed hidden until
about 11:00PM.
|
| |
| None of our scouts did the Archery merit badge class.
When I was at the archery range, they had the area set up to
make arrow recovery very easy.
|
| |
| The camp has a climbing tower.
(I am not a climber, but I think that Baker's looks more interesting.)
|
| |
| Camp Meriwether has a Frontier's Man program which allows the scouts
to explore what life was like near the time of the Lewis and Clark
expedition.
