July 2002, Ape Caves
We went to the Ape Caves, which is a lava tube cave near
Mt. St. Helens.
We had several scouts:
Kyle L,
Curtis M,
Sean M,
and
Jacob P.
The adults were
Gary H,
Alan M,
and
Jay P.
 | Take the right, take the left, they both go through!
|
| |
 | Good thing we took the left.
Daylight! But not the end, yet.
|
| |
 | |
| |
 | Okay, this one gets a comment just for the design.
| Climbing in the mist. (Also known as "photographer forgot to
hold his breath again.")
| |
 | Passages like these are what made the Upper Caves a lot less
crowded than the lower.
|
| |
 | Light!
|
| |
 | The cave went a little further, but after a mile and a half of
the Upper cave rock falls, we chose the exit.
|
| |
 | Your choice as to which was more dangerous: The rocks or the
ladder.
