June 2002, Court of Honor

Page 2

We held our spring Court of Honor at Avery Park to recognize the achievements of the scouts since the last Court of Honor, and to get together with families to share time together.
Our troop helped build a nature trail behind Jefferson School. Two of our scouts did their Eagle project there. Since that time, nature has taken over. A community member who uses the trail asked our help in clearing some of the blackberries back. A number of our scouts helped out in this service project and receive a helping hand segment. Gareth d, Ty F, Curtis M, Jacob P, Thomas R. Our troop runs a booth for the Jefferson School Carnival. This is a fund raiser put on by our sponsoring organization, and we help out. We had a number of scouts participate in this project as well, and they also receive a helping hand segment. Neil B, DJ F, Nick H, Cody L, Kyle L, Thomas R
Last Court of Honor, we awarded the helping hand segment for the Benton County Food Drive. A few people weren't there to pick them up. Neil B, Povel G, DJ F
Camping is core to the Boy Scouts, and gives the scouts opportunities to build skills to live in the outdoors, work with other people, and even eat their own cooking. In recognition of their time camping, we give a small award for each 10 nights they were out. These two scouts also receive a 50 nights out award. Sean M 50 nights
Conrad S 85 nights Jacob P earned his Scout Rank. A number of scouts completed their Art merit badge which was taught by Becky L and Trish B.
