Three Sisters Wilderness 50 mile hike, day 6

The next day we were thinking of staying at a lake at the base of a 600 foot climb. There was a high cliff to the West of the lake that I thought would shield the breeze and thereby the mosquitoes would be bad. After a discussion we decided to continue to the top of the pass and camp at the lake up there (better chance for a breeze). There was definitely a breeze at this lake, it was a wind. But because it was at the end of another very long day we decided to say there. After dinner Trevor and I took a five mile side trip so he would have enough miles to get the 50 miler award.

Each day and each hour brings new landscapes. As we left the twin lakes, we ended up going through a section of burned out forest.

Mt. Washington.

Ty and Sean relaxing at Alder Creek.

After a hard climb, we are at a local high point near South Mattheiu Lake. We stopped to rest, air out, and enjoy the view.

South Mattheiu Lake is a small mountain lake, with a great view of North Sister and some lava fields.

Time to relax while making camp.

That night, clouds did roll in. They were of a different shape then I am used to seeing. Luckly, we had no rain at all during the trip.
