Three Sisters Wilderness 50 mile hike, day 3

The next day we stopped on the way to Moraine Lake to explore Le Conte Creater. We then continued on through Wickiup Plain and to Moraine Lake. We found a camp site and waited for Kevin, Thomas and Trevor to arrive. Moraine Lake is a great place to explore, so we did. Kevin and Thomas brought us the meals for the rest of the trek. Since this was Sunday night there were not many people camping by the lake so we took two camp sites; we had a lot of tents.

The Wife.
They seem to have a full family of mountains out here.

Our destination for today is Moraine lake, due South of South Sister. We are looking at South Sister from the West here.

Several of us climbed LeConte Crater, and Nick and Sean went down inside to the lake, and did a little snow skiing on the snow bank leading into the lake.

From the rim of the crater, we had a good view of the surrounding territory.

Broken Top is East of our destination.

You can see some of the trail that we will be taking.

The start of the trail up to the summit of South Sister goes up this valley.

The (almost) summit of South Sister. The real summit is just over the ridge.
