October 1999, River's Edge

Page 2

On the 23rd of October, our troop went to River's Edge on the Alsea River. This area usually has some good fishing, but this year the weather wasn't with us. Instead of having lots of rain, we've had really nice days. This weekend had a few sprinkles, but otherwise was very nice.

We had a number of scouts as well as some Webelo's from Pack 163. Tom B (webelo), Neil B (webelo), Trevor d, Ty F, Nick H, Grant K, Curtis M, Sean M, Peter R (webelo), Thomas R, and Conrad S.

We also had several adults: Wes B, Bob B, Tim K, Dave R, and Don S.

Note that there are more photographs then show on this page. When you click on one of the photos, there will be arrows which lead you through all of the photos.
Sunday morning saw a number of the scouts fishing. Neil and Tom are to the left, and Ty and Curtis are on the left. Nobody caught anything (we didn't have any real rain), but the scouts seemed to have fun attempting to catch the fish anyway.
Sean also spent time fishing. Curtis had an idea to use a plastic bag as hip waders for the shallow water. It didn't quite work out as well as he had hoped.
I'm told one of the ways to see if a campout was successful is how much the scouts sleep on the way home. It looks like we were successful.
