Agenda for 24 September 2001

SPL: Grant Kimble ASPL: Ty Farley

26 Sep Swimming Merit badge This will mostly be used to catch scouts up to where the rest of the scouts are. Plus it is a good excuse to get in the pool.

--- Recruitment talk Have Trish and Maria talk about recruitment efforts.

--- Eagle Merit badge tracking. Have Dave talk about a merit badge form to see if the scouts think it will be useful to them as they work on their merit badges.

--- Electricity Merit badge pitch Have John da Cuhna talk about the Electricity merit badge. The goal is to get the scouts who are working on Environmental Science and Citizenship in the Nation finished, and start the younger scouts on an interesting introductory Merit Badge. Older scouts that are interested can take part, but will emphasise self study rather than meeting time. I hope I didn't stomp too much on how John wants to run the class.

--- Personal Fitness Merit Badge Personal Fitness is an Eagle required merit badge. It isn't really something that needs meeting time, but is something that requires personal dedication to doing exercise and recording what you do. It is likely to just be recording what you are already doing in PE classes. Kevin Hanauer is willing to work with scouts to get this merit badge. How many scouts are interested? Have Dave talk Sean, Conrad, Nick, and Thomas should be very interested. Ty and Curtis should be looking to working on Eagle Merit badges. Others are welcome to work on this as well, but this is merit badge that requires the personal commitment to carry through with the merit badge.

29-30 Sep Camping pass out signup sheet Camping at Skeleton Caves near Bend. Scouts will need to sign up, and we will need adults for driving and supervision. Have Dave talk about this trip

5-7 Oct Fall Rendezvous at Perkins Penisula Park. This is a get together with multiple troops with demonstrations and activities. Tamahawk throwing, fire building with flint & steel, and lots of other things. We will need plenty of adult help here as well.

15 Oct ASPL Elections Grant has held the SPL job since mid April. It is time for Ty to take over as SPL and elect a new ASPL to help Ty with the job.

Menu planning for people going camping.

The program will consist of Environmental Science for those that are ready. (People not ready can help others with basic skills.)

Bring the scout books, so we can see what the scouts need in the way of scout skills. Let's get everybody up a rank before the end of the year.
